What is the meaning of the Claddagh Ring?
The claddagh ring was originally designed centuries ago in the town
of Claddagh, near Galway city. The ring comprises 3 elements: a pair of
hands, holding a heart, topped with a crown. When you give a Claddagh
ring you are giving three promises:
- A promise of 'friendship' (symbolized by the hands)
- A promise of 'love' (symbolized by the heart)
- A promise of 'loyalty' (symbolized by the crown)
